Frequently asked questions

Anything not answered here, ask in the enquiry form above — a consultant replies, not a bot.

What is the duration of the Majestic North East tour?

The tour is 5 nights and 6 days, covering Guwahati, Shillong, Cherrapunji, and Kaziranga National Park. It is a complete Assam-Meghalaya itinerary blending temples, hills, waterfalls, caves, and wildlife safaris – ideal for a week-long Northeast India holiday.

Which places are covered in this package?

The tour covers Guwahati (Kamakhya Temple, Brahmaputra sunset cruise), Shillong (Umiam Lake, Ward's Lake, Lady Hydari Park, Shillong Peak, Elephant Falls, Don Bosco Museum), Cherrapunji (Nohkalikai Falls, Mawsmai Cave, Arwah Cave, Seven Sisters Falls, Eco Park), and Kaziranga National Park (Kohora & Bagori ranges, Orchid Park, tea garden).

What is included in the MAP plan?

The MAP plan (Modified American Plan) includes daily breakfast and dinner at the hotel or resort for all 5 nights. Lunch is not included, giving you the flexibility to enjoy local Khasi cuisine in Shillong and authentic Assamese thalis near Kaziranga during daytime sightseeing.

What is the best time to visit Shillong, Cherrapunji and Kaziranga together?

November to April is the ideal window – Kaziranga remains open, the weather is pleasant, and Cherrapunji's landscapes are scenic. December to February offers the best wildlife sightings, while March–April is excellent for birdwatching. Kaziranga closes from May to October due to monsoon flooding.

Are Kaziranga safaris included in the package price?

Safari charges are not included as rates are fixed by the Assam Forest Department. Jeep safaris typically cost ₹3,500–₹6,500 per vehicle plus entry fees, and elephant safaris around ₹1,000–₹1,500 per person. We assist with advance online bookings on request, as safaris sell out quickly in peak season.

Can we see rhinos and tigers in Kaziranga?

Kaziranga hosts two-thirds of the world's One-Horned Rhinoceros population, so rhino sightings are very likely. It also has one of the highest densities of Royal Bengal Tigers in India, though tiger sightings depend on luck, season, and timing. Early morning winter safaris offer the best chances.

How far is Kaziranga from Shillong and Guwahati?

Kaziranga (Kohora gate) is approximately 210 km from Guwahati (4–5 hours) and about 240 km from Shillong (5–6 hours) via well-connected national highways passing through scenic tea gardens and Assamese countryside.

Is the Kamakhya Temple darshan included in this itinerary?

Yes, the itinerary includes early morning darshan at Kamakhya Temple on Day 4 before departing for Kaziranga. Regular darshan may take 1–3 hours depending on crowd; fast-track/VIP darshan tickets are available at the temple counter at extra cost.

Is this budget tour package suitable for 4 people?

Yes, this package is priced per person for a group of 4 pax traveling together in one private cab – great value for families, two couples, or friend groups, with exclusive vehicle use throughout the entire 6-day journey.

Are there entry fees for the sightseeing spots?

Yes, nominal entry fees apply at Elephant Falls, Mawsmai Cave, Arwah Cave, Eco Park, Ward's Lake, Lady Hydari Park, Don Bosco Museum, and Kaziranga National Park. These range from ₹20 to ₹200 per person and are payable directly at each location.

What should we pack for this North East tour?

Carry light woolens (heavy woolens in winter), comfortable walking shoes with good grip, rain jackets or umbrellas for Cherrapunji, neutral-colored clothing for safaris, binoculars and camera, sunscreen, cap, insect repellent, power banks, and valid ID proofs for hotel check-in and park entry.

Can the itinerary be customized?

Yes, the tour can be customized with extensions to Mawlynnong & Dawki (Meghalaya), Majuli river island, Manas National Park, Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, or premium resort and jungle lodge upgrades on request. Additional safari rounds and extra nights can also be arranged at nominal extra cost.

Guwahati

Guwahati: The Gateway to the Northeast

Almost every North East India journey begins here, and most travellers make the same mistake — they treat Guwahati as an airport with a hotel attached, landing at night and leaving for Shillong or Kaziranga by morning.

Give it two days instead.

Assam's largest city sprawls along the south bank of the Brahmaputra, a river so vast here that in the monsoon the far shore simply disappears into haze. Guwahati is old — mentioned in the epics as Pragjyotishpura, the City of Eastern Light — and it wears that age lightly, in hilltop shrines, a river full of islands, and a market culture that starts before dawn. It is also the region's practical hub: the busiest airport in the Northeast, its main railhead, and the point from which nearly every itinerary radiates.
