About this trip
Kamakhya Temple, perched on Nilachal Hill above the Brahmaputra, is one of the most powerful Shakti Peethas in India and the spiritual anchor of Assam. This 3-day package is built around a proper, unhurried darshan — not a rushed stop between flights — paired with the best of Guwahati's riverfront and island temples.
You'll have time to attend the temple across two visits (recommended for both a sunrise and a regular darshan, since queues and rituals vary through the day), explore the Brahmaputra by boat, and cover Guwahati's other major shrines — Navagraha, Umananda and Basistha Ashram — at a comfortable pace. It's designed for pilgrims, families, and first-time visitors to the Northeast who want Guwahati done properly before moving on to Kaziranga, Shillong or beyond.

Arrival in Guwahati – Kamakhya Darshan & Evening Cruise

Arrive at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport or Guwahati Railway Station, where you'll be met and transferred to your hotel. After check-in and a short rest, head out in the early afternoon for your first darshan at Kamakhya Temple.
Your guide will walk you through the temple's Nilachal-style architecture and its significance as a Shakti Peeth before you join the queue for darshan. Footwear and leather items are left at the entrance; modest dress is expected. Photography is not permitted inside the main sanctum.
In the evening, head to the Brahmaputra riverfront for a sunset boat cruise — one of the simplest and most memorable ways to take in the city, with the river running wide and calm as the light drops. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
2Day 2
Sunrise Darshan, Navagraha Temple & Umananda Island

Start early for a sunrise darshan at Kamakhya — queues are noticeably shorter and the temple has a different, quieter character before the day's crowds arrive. If you'd rather sleep in, this can be swapped for a second regular-hours visit.
After breakfast, drive to the Navagraha Temple on Chitrachal Hill, dedicated to the nine celestial bodies of Indian astrology and one of the oldest astronomical-religious sites in the region.
In the afternoon, take a short boat ride from Kachari Ghat to Umananda Temple, a Shiva shrine on tiny Peacock Island in the middle of the Brahmaputra. The crossing takes about fifteen minutes each way and is a peaceful contrast to the temple crowds.
Round off the day with free time at Fancy Bazar for Assam silk, bell-metal ware and local handicrafts, followed by dinner featuring an Assamese thali.

After breakfast, visit Basistha Ashram, a tranquil hermitage in a forest setting on the edge of the city, associated with the sage Vashistha and fed by three converging mountain streams — a good, calm contrast to the temple crowds of the previous two days.
Depending on your flight or train timing, use the remaining hours for last-minute shopping, a visit to the Assam State Museum, or simply relaxing at the hotel. Transfer to the airport or railway station for your onward journey.

Do I need to book a special slot for Kamakhya darshan, or can we join the regular queue?
For a standard darshan, you simply join the regular queue included in this package — no advance slot booking is required. If you'd like a private puja, a bali (ritual offering), or priest-assisted worship, this is arranged separately and should be requested in advance so we can organise it alongside your temple visit.
Is 3 days enough, or should I extend the trip to include Kaziranga or Shillong?
Three days comfortably covers Kamakhya and Guwahati's other key sites at an unhurried pace — it's not a rushed add-on trip. That said, most travellers who've come this far do extend: Kaziranga National Park is roughly 4–5 hours away and pairs well with a 2-day add-on, while Shillong and Cherrapunji add another 3 days for Meghalaya's waterfalls and root bridges. Let us know if you'd like either built into your itinerary.

Room preferences, bed configuration, room location, early check-in and late check-out are subject to availability.
Transportation will be provided according to the vehicle category and passenger strength mentioned in the package.
The sightseeing sequence may be adjusted depending on local conditions, traffic, weather, operational requirements and sightseeing timings.
The actual duration of sightseeing and transfers may vary depending on road conditions, traffic and local circumstances.
Meals will be provided according to the meal plan mentioned in the package. Menu and meal arrangements are subject to the respective hotel's or restaurant's operating conditions.
Certain sightseeing places, activities and attractions may operate according to their own opening hours, weekly closures or seasonal schedules.
Special requests such as specific rooms, adjoining rooms, dietary preferences, vehicle preferences or other arrangements will be subject to availability.
Guests are advised to carry valid identification and all necessary travel documents throughout the journey.
Guests should follow the instructions of the tour coordinator, driver, hotel, local authorities and service providers during the tour.
The itinerary may be reasonably adjusted when required due to weather, road conditions, local restrictions, safety concerns or other operational circumstances.
Any additional services or arrangements requested during the tour and not included in the confirmed package will be charged separately.

All bookings are subject to availability and confirmation from the respective hotels, airlines, transport operators, DMCs, activity providers and other service partners.
A booking will be considered confirmed only after receipt of the applicable booking payment and written confirmation from the company.
The itinerary, hotels, transportation and other services will be provided as mentioned in the confirmed booking voucher or final itinerary.
Hotels mentioned in the package are subject to availability. In case of non-availability, the company may provide a similar-category alternative, subject to availability.
Hotel check-in and check-out timings are governed by the respective hotel's policies. Early check-in and late check-out are subject to availability and applicable charges.
Room preferences, bed configurations, adjoining rooms, room locations and other special requests are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed unless specifically confirmed in writing.
The sightseeing sequence may be changed due to weather, traffic, road conditions, local restrictions, attraction timings, operational requirements or safety considerations without materially affecting the overall tour.
Transportation will be provided according to the vehicle category mentioned in the confirmed package. Vehicle usage will be subject to the agreed itinerary and applicable local transportation regulations.
Any additional sightseeing, transfers, activities, meals, room upgrades or other services requested by the traveller after confirmation will be charged separately.
Any increase in government taxes, fuel charges, permit fees, entry fees, airline fares, hotel tariffs or other mandatory charges imposed after booking may be payable by the traveller, where applicable.
Unused services, meals, sightseeing, transfers, accommodation nights or activities will generally not be eligible for a refund unless specifically agreed otherwise in writing.
Hotels, airlines, transport operators, restaurants, activity providers and other suppliers are independent service providers and their respective operational terms and conditions will apply to the services provided by them.
The company will make reasonable efforts to deliver all confirmed services but will not be responsible for delays, cancellations, disruptions or service changes caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control.
Circumstances beyond reasonable control may include adverse weather, natural disasters, road closures, strikes, political disturbances, government restrictions, security situations, pandemics, transportation disruptions and other force majeure events.
Travellers are responsible for carrying valid identification, passports, visas, permits, tickets and other documents required for the journey.
The company is not responsible for losses, delays or additional expenses resulting from incorrect, incomplete or invalid documents provided by the traveller.
Visa approval, immigration clearance and entry into any country or restricted area are subject to the decision of the concerned government authority and cannot be guaranteed by the company.
Travellers are responsible for complying with local laws, immigration regulations, hotel policies, transportation rules and instructions issued by local authorities.
Travellers are responsible for their personal belongings, valuables, passports, cash, electronic devices and other personal items throughout the journey.
The company will not be responsible for loss, theft or damage to personal belongings except where liability is established under applicable law.
Any special request communicated by the traveller will be treated as a request only and will be subject to availability and confirmation.
Photographs, room images, vehicle images and other visual representations displayed on the website are for illustrative purposes and may differ from the actual service provided.
Package prices are based on the information and rates available at the time of quotation and may change before confirmation due to supplier rate revisions, currency fluctuations, taxes or other applicable charges.
Children, infants and extra-bed/mattress arrangements are subject to the policies and charges of the respective hotel, airline and service provider.
The company reserves the right to make reasonable operational changes to the itinerary when necessary while making reasonable efforts to maintain the overall nature, quality and value of the tour.
Payment, cancellation and refund matters will be governed by the applicable Payment Policy and Cancellation Policy mentioned for the package.
In case of any conflict between the standard package information and a supplier-specific condition, the applicable supplier condition may prevail for that particular service.
By confirming the booking, the traveller acknowledges that they have read and accepted the applicable package details, payment schedule, cancellation policy and these Terms & Conditions.
Any dispute arising in connection with the booking or tour services will first be attempted to be resolved amicably between the traveller and the company.
Where a dispute cannot be resolved amicably, it will be subject to the applicable laws and jurisdiction specified by the company's registered office and applicable law.
These Terms & Conditions may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in applicable laws, regulations, supplier policies or business practices. The terms applicable at the time of booking will generally govern the confirmed booking, subject to mandatory changes required by law or authorities.
